AVID Virtual College Fair
Friday, December 4, 2015
9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time

AVID has partnered with CollegeWeekLive to coordinate the first AVID Virtual College Fair! AVID students can sign up at AVID.CollegeWeekLive.com to chat live with college admissions counselors from across the nation!

Lessons and resources for middle and high schools are available on MyAVID to help teachers support their students’ experience during the Virtual College Fair. Just click here and log into your MyAVID account to access these lessons.

You can prepare for the AVID Virtual College Fair now by following these three easy steps to get your AVID students involved:

Step 1:

Make sure your students have access to 1:1 technology on December 4.* Bring your AVID Elective class down to the computer lab, so they can learn about colleges from around the country. Students can log in from any internet connected computer, tablet, or smart phone. Each student should be on his or her own device for the best experience.

Step 2:
Prior to the event, educators and students can register at AVID.CollegeWeekLive.com. CollegeWeekLive accounts are free! Students, teachers, and counselors can use them year round to access college-readiness resources.

Step 3:
Log in and chat on December 4! The AVID Virtual College Fair is an all-day event, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time! Work with your teachers, counselors, and administrators to make sure that your students can log in and participate!

*For grades 6-8 (as well as elementary) we suggest AVID classes participate together as a group (rather than 1:1); the AVID elective teacher gives a guided tour of the virtual college fair and acts as moderator, asking questions on behalf of the students.
